It’s actually pretty hard to narrow down one song for my theme music. Being a child of the 80s I am a firm believer that every scene, every montage if you will, gets its own music. That being said rules is rules and I present to you my theme song.
Written about 4 time Boston Mayor and legendary politician James Michael Curley this song tops my list for several reasons. The first is the fact that it is written and performed by my favorite band; the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Secondly I love the tune in style and execution, just a great, rocking, little song. Lastly the lyrics that tell of someone who is successful, with dubious style is one that appeals to me:
A hero or a hooligan?
Well, that part’s never clear
Pride or shame, it’s all the same
Who’s innocent and who’s to blame?
Politics or just a game?
Well in the end they knew his name
The last hurrah? Nah! I’d do it again
The Rascal King behind the bars
Or the one in front of them ?

I am including this because I cant belive I found it(hooray internet). I was searching for hockey specific songs that I liked and found this; the intro to the NHL 98 video game. Probably my favorite game intro and gets me ready to skate through a wall every time. I actually still own this game because I liked the intro so much that I’ve kept it. The animated spinning nets and masks are a little cheesy but otherwise it is fantastic.

You have come a long way musically since Bad Company. Who would have thought back then that you’d grow up to be all about ska? I take partial credit for the improvement of your musical taste (and I think of you now whenever I hear Mighty, Mighty Bosstones.)
a great change of pace! cool song.
Hah! I had totally forgotten this song, haven’t heard it in years and years.
